Cuba Libre in Penn Quarter (9th & H, NW) will celebrate its signature cocktail, the mojito, on National Mojito Day – Tuesday, July 11 – with $5 Classic Mojitos available all day at the bar beginning at 11:30 a.m.!
The cocktail, made famous by Ernest Hemingway and made best by Cuba Libre, is made with hand-pressed sugarcane (called guarapo), fresh lime juice, mint, Cuba Libre’s own white rum, and a splash of soda.
The $5 mojito special begins during lunch at 11:30 a.m. Mojitos can be paired with a three-course “Rápido Lunch” – available in chicken, seafood and vegetarian dishes, or a traditional Cuban entree like the Vacio Steak Argentino, El Cubano sandwich, or a "Cobbano" Salad - a Cuban take on the traditional Cobb salad. The full a la carte lunch menu is available all day at the bar.
The Mojito Day celebration will continue throughout the day at Happy Hour from 5-7 p.m., where the $5 mojitos can be paired with $4-6 tapas bites, and throughout dinner beginning at 4 p.m., featuring Cuba Libre’s brand new menu with new shareable entrees for two, traditional Cuban tapas, grilled meats and seafood, and many more new dishes by Chef-Partner Guillermo Pernot.
